Every now and then, a campaign comes along that makes you stop scrolling, smile, and if you’re really lucky, start feeling hungry. This month, that moment belongs to KFC and Greggs.

Two titans of British comfort food have teamed up for an unlikely yet utterly irresistible collaboration: Greggs’ iconic sausage rolls served with a generous pour of KFC’s legendary gravy. It’s a foodie love story we didn’t see coming, but one we’re more than happy to tuck into (me especially).

The campaign kicked off with a three-day road trip that brought branded KFC × Greggs vans to London’s Southbank, Manchester’s Cathedral Gardens, and Newcastle’s Times Square. Fans queued for free sausage-roll-and-gravy combos, while the first 200 through the line each day got their hands on limited-edition “Gravy Meets Pastry” bucket hats. Equal parts quirky merch and wearable bragging rights, they were an instant hit on social media.

And it worked. Across the three days, the roadshow generated over 15,000 in-person interactions, trended on TikTok and Instagram with a combined 5.2 million video views, and drove a 22% uplift in brand mentions for both Greggs and KFC in the week of launch. These kinds of on-the-ground activations create shared moments that tap into local pride, bring people together to chat, and connect brands to communities in a way that’s memorable long after the gravy’s gone…

For those outside the roadshow cities, the brands kept the FOMO alive with a limited-time Uber Eats sharing bucket, six sausage rolls and a pot of gravy in co-branded packaging, available for just two days in London, Manchester, Newcastle, and Birmingham. The scarcity wasn’t an accident. By keeping the drop tight and the locations limited, they turned it into what felt like an exclusive event.

So, why did it work?

  • Brits eat over a million sausage rolls and 15,000 litres of KFC gravy every single day. This collab taps right into that shared love.
  • Free samples, playful props, and photogenic food meant fans did the marketing for them.
  • “When gravy met pastry” is a cheeky nod to both romance films and British humour.
  • The “blink and you’ll miss it” approach kept demand high and created a sense of urgency.

This KFC × Greggs advertisement shows that great campaigns don’t always need to reinvent the wheel. Sometimes, the magic lies in freshly combining two familiar favourites, wrapping them in personality, and letting fans spread the word.
