As the Operations Manager at Briscoe PR, I might not be as visible to clients, but I am behind the scenes, utilising systems, processes and planning to ensure we have the right people, tools and resources in place. That way, the team can focus on what they do best.
Friday 20th June is World Productivity Day. This is a chance to reflect on how we work, why we work the way we do and what helps us to get things done.
Productivity isn’t just about working faster. It’s about working smarter, staying organised and supporting wellbeing.
What does productivity mean in an Operations Role?
In a small team, operations impacts everything – from HR and finance to scheduling, systems and resource planning. For me, productivity means;
- Having clear but flexible processes – so things run smoothly without becoming too rigid.
- Supporting the team and prioritising wellbeing – checking in and spotting when someone feels overloaded or overwhelmed.
- Streamlining systems – so time is well spent on creativity, not admin.
- Keeping communication open – having team meetings, 1 to 1’s, informal messages to check in, keeps us connected, especially when working remotely.
Productivity looks different in every role, but in my role, it’s making sure the business and team have the structure and support they need to grow and thrive.
